Breaking the glass ceiling for Amy Schumer, Joan Rivers and The Marvelous Mrs. Masel, Belle Barth was the original irreverent female comic, Queen of the Borscht Belt, deflating anyone who dared take sex too seriously. Raunchy Little Musical – Belle Barth is Back! is an hilarious and heartfelt show that chronicles the launch of the 50s Queen of Crass. It is an evening with this pioneer of edgy comedy anchored by an original score by Grammy-nominated composer Ilya Levinson, with plenty of Belle’s jokes and songs that topped the charts of the “adults only” record section… the “party records” your parents played when you were sent to bed. Inspired by her Jewish comedian father, Belle, a classically trained pianist, defined the odds (and her mother’s wishes for a career at Carnegie Hall). She rose to the top of a very limited genre of performers playing to packed clubs worldwide in an era when “women ain’t comics” culminating in a sold-out appearance at Carnegie Hall..her greatest success and yet her demise.
Schumann’s famous piano concerto is filled with hope, joy, and optimism for the future. It’s a perfect way to start the spring season. Starting the program is Chevalier de St. Georges exuberant and virtuosic 2nd Symphony, which will be followed by Schubert’s enigmatic Unfinished Symphony.

This brass, funk, and rock band has a lot to say with a big sound. Chock-full of serious groove from a thumping rhythm section and lush horn arrangements, the band’s compositional roots as well as its creative and collaborative soul contribute lots of depth to their original tunes and covers.
Founded in 2012, ESB has grown from a party band of friends playing New Orleans-originated or inspired second-line and funk tunes with elements of rock and jam. Now, it consists of a collective of players, singers, songwriters, and producers who have found an original sound that fuses their musical influences with fresh ideas while still holding to their foundation.
Featuring rich group and lead vocals from several members including Grammy Award-winning artist Debrissa McKinney (Secret Agent 23 Skidoo), keyboardist/producer Lenny Pettinelli, drummer Nik Hope, bassist JP Furnas, guitarist Chris Porter, trumpet Alex Bradley, trombone Kyle Snuffer, saxophone Pauly Juhl, and keyboard/percussion Sean Donnelly. Since their conception, they have been a constant fixture at various festivals throughout the USA. Empire has also co-billed with some of the biggest names in funk and soul.
When Empire Strikes Brass comes together, whether live or in the studio, the sound is undeniably solid. The band’s debut album was recorded at Asheville’s own renowned Echo Mountain Recording Studio, and released in 2017. Entitled Theme For A Celebration, it was tapped as one of the year’s top 100 releases by WNCW 88.7 radio. ESB’s newest release Brassterpiece Theatre (2019), also recorded at Echo, was a fierce follow-up and both albums are available through all major music distribution streaming, sales, and listening platforms. As they continue to tour and captivate audiences, Empire Strikes Brass is diligently working on their highly anticipated third studio album. Between shows, they are crafting and mastering new sounds that will undoubtedly leave their fans craving for more.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a deliberately kitschy rock ‘n’ roll tribute to classic science fiction and horror B movies. This cult classic movie musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple (Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon) who are caught in a storm and arrive at the home of a mad scientist (Tim Curry) unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror. Add a castle full of wild characters, including a biker (Meat Loaf) and a creepy butler (Richard O’Brien). Nothing beats a Rocky Horror screening where you can jump up and dance to the time warp! It’s a one-of-a-kind “happening.” Come up to the lab and see what’s on the slab!
As you may know, The Rocky Horror Show is an interactive movie experience. To facilitate audience participation, Hendersonville Theatre will sell $5 prop bags for purchase in the lobby to supply you with all the props you need to fully immerse yourself in the experience. Instructions will be included with each prop bag. The bags include instructions, a balloon, a glow stick, a rubber glove, a noisemaker, a confetti popper, toilet paper, a party hat, a sponge, paper plates, cards, a bag, and a newspaper. Some of the messier props you may be familiar with, such as rice, toast, and lighters, are not included in the bag. Only items provided in the official HT prop bag will be allowed in the theater. Another thing we ask is to please not throw things at the screen. Thank you for helping us keep our theatre clean and safe.
Our bar and concession stand will be open which includes beer, wine, cider, seltzer, and non-alcoholic options. Please have your ID ready.

During this unique and exciting outdoor performance, audiences will travel back in time to the year 1901 and hear yarns about the legendary Tommy Hodges, a fictional student of the Biltmore Forest School. Audiences will be led around the Biltmore Campus Trail by different characters from the play and watch as the story unfolds around them from all sides. In addition, audience members are invited to dress up in Biltmore Forest School era clothing (early 1900’s) to fully immerse themselves in the event and take part in the story.

It’s alive! The electrifying adaptation of Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny film will leave you in stitches. Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Dr. Frankenstein aims to fulfill his grandfather’s legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. With such memorable tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment.
Come listen to Andre Madatian, a guitarist, composer, and educator currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. Andre holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Film Scoring with a minor in Contemporary Conducting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and a Master of Music in Composition from Middle Tennessee State University. Aside from composing, Andre is also an active touring guitarist as well as an educator where he mentors students from all around the globe in several areas including composition, arranging, orchestration, and music theory.

Featured Artists include Paula Sisson Akbar, She has played in the Oregon, New Haven, and Baltimore Symphonies and the Kennedy Center Opera/Ballet Orchestra. In 2016 Ms. Akbar retired from the National Symphony Orchestra first violin section after 24 years. Ms. Akbar’s violin is crafted by luthier Kate Rickenbacker, whose studio is located in Black Mountain. Ms. Rickenbacker is also a member of the BRO. As well as Tinder Burris, Tinder Burris is an experienced and accomplished musician and string educator. She has recently retired from Miami-Dade County Public Schools as the Orchestra Director of Southwood Middle School Center for the Performing Arts.

ADAPTED BY ORSON WELLES FROM THE BRAM STOKER NOVEL
An adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, recounted by various characters in the first person, was written by 23-year old Orson Welles with producer John Houseman.
Dracula became the premiere episode of The Mercury Theatre of the Air and is considered one of the most horrific and transcendent presentations of radio. It was originally broadcast on CBS Radio in 1938. This famous dramatic series — featuring adaptations of well-known novels, plays, and films — was originally produced, directed, written, hosted, and performed by Orson Welles, with the Mercury Theatre Company.
