Description
The Flowering Bridge was established when the 1925 Rocky Broad bridge on US 64/US 74-A/NC Hwy 9 was closed to traffic in 2011, after a new one was constructed. It is a flowering pedestrian bridge that crosses the Rocky Broad River with walkways at both ends of the bridge. The Town of Lake Lure took over the bridge to preserve this historic landmark. The scenery from the bridge is a breathtaking view of Chimney Rock and the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the Hickory Nut Gorge area.Â
