Christmas at Connemara

Musicians and storytellers, crafts and sing-a-longs, hot cider and cookies. This free festive celebration will honor Carl Sandburg and his family holiday traditions. Young visitors will find many opportunities for participation in storytelling, sing-a-longs and crafts. The house will be decorated in the simple style of the Sandburgs with poinsettias and a traditionally decorated Christmas tree throughout December until January 6th, 2020, which is Carl Sandburg’s birthday.

The Henderson County Curb market will host its annual Ol’ Timey Christmas celebration from 8 until 2 on Saturday, November 30th. The Curb Market, located at 221 N. Church Street in downtown Hendersonville, will offer holiday music and complimentary mulled cider and refreshments. Customers will enjoy shopping for produce, dried flowers and wreaths, baked goods, preserves, salsas and unique hand crafted items. They can also look forward to a visit from Santa!

The farm comes to the city at Hendersonville’s Annual Farm City Day! Located in Jackson Park, Farm City Day celebrates our rural traditions and introduces the urban population to agriculture, Hendersonville’s most important industry. There will be petting zoo, urban, rural and educational displays, antique and modern farm equipment, live music, food and concessions for sale, and crafters selling their wares. Plus, there will be a special youth area with hands-on activities including petting farm animals, old-timey demonstrations, and a fishing pond. Enjoy many children’s games and stay for a wagon ride through the park.

The “Top of the Grade Concerts” will be held on the Ella Grace Mintz Stage in Top of the Grade Park in McCreery Park, historic downtown Saluda, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on June 14, July 12, August 9 & September 13, 2019.  Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets. Food, soft drinks,  and coolers are allowed.  Beer and wine permitted in the park only during the time period of the concerts Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets. Music on Main Street features 96.5 House Band

The weekly Music on Main Street concert on August 23rd will feature the 96.5 House Band from Western North Carolina. The band is known for their wide-ranging musical influences, including the Temptations, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and the Beach Boys. With a playlist that spans four decades, the 96.5 House Band covers such crowd pleasers as the Bill Withers’ classic “Ain’t No Sunshine,” Van Morrison’s “Brown-Eyed Girl,” Otis Redding’s “The Dock of the Bay,” Bob Seger’s “Hollywood Nights,” Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” and “Maneater” from Hall and Oates

The Classic Car Cruise-In will showcase a variety of vintage and antique automobiles.  The car show is located in front of the Visitor Center, between Allen Street and Caswell Street, which will be closed to traffic. To participate in the car show with your classic car, the cost is $10. For more information about the car shows call (828) 702-0448.

Bring a chair and enjoy an evening of live music from 7pm-9pm.  The audience seating area opens after 5:30pm, early admission is prohibited.  Admission is free. Alcoholic beverages, backpacks, or coolers are prohibited.

In case of inclement weather the concert will be postponed until 8pm.  If the weather does not improve by 8pm the performance will be cancelled.

Rhythm & Brews Concert Series presents Fireside Collective & Tellico

The August 15th Rhythm & Brews Concert Series in downtown Hendersonville NC is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Starting the evening off at 5:30 PM is the hugely popular Asheville “Appalachiacana” band, Tellico. With vivid, original storytelling, vibrant musicianship and intelligent arrangements, Tellico creates an innovative sound that redefines what today’s Southern Appalachian music can be. Instead of modernizing tradition, Tellico takes it deeper, effortlessly weaving meaningful, imaginative songwriting with intelligent arrangements.

Taking to the stage at 7:30, from Asheville, NC, is Fireside Collective, a progressive Folk band heavily influenced by American Roots, featuring strong musicianship, colorful harmonies, and contemporary original music. The Collective seeks to bridge the gaps between early folk music, the urban folk revival, and the current folk renaissance happening today. Expect to see an energetic live show featuring songs of leaving, songs of love and songs of life.

Rhythm & Brews is a free outdoor concert series offering local foods, wines, craft beers and ciders.Hands On! Children’s Museum booth provides fun for the whole family.

In 2019, the annual summer tradition of The Street Dances celebrates its 101st anniversary! The Street Dances began in 1918, when the citizens of Hendersonville took to the street to welcome home the soldiers from WWI. The weekly Music on Main Street concert on August 9th will feature the Asheville-based band Dashboard Blue. This five-piece band plays a wide variety of timeless dance grooves, including Rock, R&B, 50′s, Disco, Funk, Pop, Beach, Motown, Country and the classics.

The Classic Car Cruise-In will showcase a variety of vintage and antique automobiles.  The car show is located in front of the Visitor Center, between Allen Street and Caswell Street, which will be closed to traffic. To participate in the car show with your classic car, the cost is $10. For more information about the car shows call (828) 702-0448.

The Street Dances began in 1918, when the citizens of Hendersonville took to the street to welcome home the soldiers from WWI. The Dances features mountain heritage bluegrass music, square dancing and clogging every Monday evening from July 8th through August 12th. 23rd Annual “CHALK IT UP!” Chalk Art Festival

“Chalk It Up!” is a chalk-art festival featuring 150 artists drawing on seven blocks of Main Street in Hendersonville, NC. All artists – professionals and novices of all ages – are given free chalk and assigned sidewalk space and encouraged to “Draw your dreams on Main!” for prizes and fun. This contest helps to promote Hendersonville as “a city with a heart for art.” The chalk art lasts until the next rain. Rain dates are: July 20 and July 27

Music On Main 4th of July Celebration Concert

The Music On Main Street concert series presents a Special 4th of July Celebration Concert featuring the music of Upstate South Carolina-based Wishful Thinkin’. A festive Independence Day fireworks display will take place at sundown. Izzi Hughes and Cole Jenkins will be playing a pre-concert show, starting at 6pm, followed by a patriotic tribute and Wishful Thinkin’ performing from 7-9:30pm.  The new launch site will ensure prime viewing of the display from South Main Street and the Music on Main concert area. Enjoy the concert and fireworks from the comfort of your chair at Music on Main Street from 6:00-9:30pm.As part of the July 4th Celebration all military veterans will be recognized along with those currently serving in our armed forces. People having served in the military are requested to attend wearing a cap, t-shirt, or some other source of military identification and those actively serving are asked to wear their uniform to be honored and recognized. Bring an American flag to wave to show your patriotism.

Fletcher Parks and Recreation Department will host its the 2019 Summer Concert in the Park on Saturday, June 29th at Bill Moore Community Park (Formerly Fletcher Community Park). The “Top of the Grade Concerts” will be held on the Ella Grace Mintz Stage in Top of the Grade Park in McCreery Park, historic downtown Saluda, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on June 14, July 12, August 9 & September 13, 2019.  Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets. 29th Annual Tree of Lights and Luminaries

The Annual Tree of Lights and Luminaries ceremony is a chance to honor and remember loved ones lost, going into the holiday season. The event will include hot cider, cookies, music, and the lighting of the tree, where you can honor as many loved ones as you would like. The ceremony will take place at the First Citizens Plaza (located at 539 N Main St), and then the tree will be moved to the Hospic Home Store (located at 215 N Main St), where it will remain on display for the entire holiday season.

The Brevard Music Center, in collaboration with Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra, is proud to present Chamber Music Tuesdays, the newest offering in a series of free Community Concerts throughout the region. Chamber Music Tuesdays will be held monthly, March through May, at 12:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville.

Street Dances features Appalachian Fire / Bailey Mountain Cloggers

In 2019, the annual summer tradition of The Street Dances celebrates its 101st anniversary! The Street Dances began in 1918, when the citizens of Hendersonville took to the street to welcome home the soldiers from WWI. The Dances features mountain heritage bluegrass music, square dancing and clogging every Monday evening from July 8th through August 12th. On each of these 6 Monday nights, starting at 6:30pm, the caller, William Puckett, will teach audience members some basic square dancing moves so that everyone can join in on the fun led by the evening’s clogging group.

Week 1 features music by Appalachian Fire and dancing by the Bailey Mountain Cloggers.

In addition to you danging shoes, bring a chair to enjoy an evening filled with live music, dancing and entertainment from 7 – 9pm. The audience seating area opens after 5:30pm, and early admission is prohibited. Please leave your pets comfortably at home, as a Hendersonville City ordinance prohibits animals in event areas. Admission is free. No alcoholic beverages, backpacks or coolers allowed.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be postponed until 8pm. If the weather does not improve by 8pm the performance will be cancelled.
