Farm City Day

Farm City Day

The 2021 Farm City Day event, started in 1955, is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, is located at Jackson Park, Hendersonville, NC, and begins at 10:00 am continuing until 4:00 pm.

Approximately 80 acres of Jackson Park will be used for urban, rural and educational displays, antiques and modern farm equipment, and crafters from many generations. Farm City Day focuses on ‘agricultural awareness’, teaching kids where their food comes from and who produces it. The event celebrates Henderson county’s rural traditions and introduces the urban population to some common farming activities from previous generations.

A special youth area will feature many hands-on activities including a farm animal petting zoo, old-timey demonstrations and a fishing pond. Enjoy many children’s games and activities. Planned entertainment includes three stages of bands performing throughout the day. Food trucks are available.

There is no admission charged to the event. Some activities, food and vendors will cost money so bring some cash with you.

**UPDATE! Artist Matt Willey will complete part of Hendersonville’s Bee Mural this fall and will then return to complete the painting of the mural in the spring, exact dates TBD.

Our local Bee City USA affiliate (a program of The City of Hendersonville Tree Board and Environmental Sustainability Board) is partnering with Hands On! Children’s Museum, The Good of the Hive, nonprofit organizations, local businesses, and community members to create a larger-than-life bee mural in the heart of downtown Hendersonville! The bees will be painted on the exterior wall of the children’s museum located within the Azalea Public Parking Lot (facing Third Ave. E. between N. Main Street and King Street). In addition to the many benefits provided by public art, the mural will help draw attention to the importance of pollinators, celebrate the power in human connection, and inspire actions to help sustain healthy ecosystems. Weather permitting, stop by to meet the artist (Matt Willey) and watch him bring the mural to life brushstroke by brushstroke. In addition, a series of video updates about the bee mural project will be posted online at https://www.facebook.com/beecityhendersonville.
