Tryon Concert Association TGIF Concert, featuring Kymric Mahnke, Pianist
March 8 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm$8 – $20
Tryon Concert Association is excited to introduce TGIF Concerts as part of the 63rd Anniversary. These two events – separate from the subscription series – are informal Friday evening concerts designed to begin the weekend with a lighthearted kick start.
Since 2011, Kymric Mahnke has again been an active piano collaborator with vocalists and chamber music ensembles in the area, following a twenty-seven year absence from the concert stage to practice law as a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarborough in Greenville, SC. Regularly appearing on Tryon’s Bach’s Lunch Lenten and Advent Recital Series, Tryon Estate’s Laurel Lake Music Society, and with concert appearances at Converse College’s Petrie School of Music and The South Carolina School of the Arts, Mr.Mahnke again seeks to bring the best of classical music to a wide audience.
Mr. Mahnke received a Morehead Scholarship for study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he won the Percy Craven Weeks award as the outstanding graduating senior pianist, and received B.M and M.M degrees in piano performance. Following his playing of the Liszt E-Flat Piano Concerto with the Virginia Beach Pops Orchestra at his last public appearance before his first retirement from music at the age of 30, the Virginia Pilot wrote that he “laid claim to the piece as though it were his birthright.”
