Description
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s mission is to protect, manage, and advocate for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The Appalachian Trail is a public footpath across 2,155 miles of Appalachian Mountain ridges extending from Maine to Georgia. While a popular attraction in Western North Carolina, the closest access from Hendersonville is in Hot Springs, NC, about an hour north of Hendersonville. Approximately 97 miles of the AT run through North Carolina, and these are some of the highest peaks along the entire trail, including several peaks higher than 6,000 feet.
